Midnight Velvet

Late-night blues, warm guitars and reflective country songwriting. Music for the hour when the house goes quiet and the lamp is still on.

The story

Midnight Velvet lives somewhere between a smoky blues room and a rainy window. It’s about slowing down, sitting with a feeling, and letting the guitar do some of the talking.

Back Then

“Back Then” began as “Vroeger”, a 1989 song by Vandattum, a band from the Arnhem area in the Netherlands. At the request of guitarist Gerard Brock, Bart worked from a very low-quality surviving video to recover the lyrics and give the song new life. He rewrote the lyrics in English and reimagined the song in Arton Grey’s country/Americana style. This new chapter acknowledges the original band, Vandattum, and the song that started it all.
